Employee Training

Depending upon the activities at the facility, as many as a dozen individual training programs are specified by OSHA, General Industry and Construction standards. Besides having the necessary written programs, the contents of these programs must be learned by the employees before the written programs really becomes effective. And in some cases, the training program really needs to go beyond the basic OSHA outline to provide the safest employees.

Today, there are four choices for training: in-house, purchased video/workbook programs, interactive computer programs and consultant trainers. Using a consultant can be more expensive but can have important advantages over the other options. Namely, a consultant can provide expertise in explaining the topic by responding to class questions and giving personal examples, the course can be tailored to specific facility needs, and the consultant becomes a team member who can relieve the time demands connected with developing the programs in-house.

Our goal in training is to present the information in an interesting manner that is easy to comprehend and put into practice. Overheads, personal experiences, and props that encourage class participation are all part of the “show”. Accountability is assured through a written test, and the test answers are discussed to reinforce learning. We can and have incorporated commercially available videos into our classes to enhance and expand the material. We are always looking for new and more effective ways to present the safety message. Our sessions can be videotaped for re-use. There are many more exciting options available with interactive computer-based training programs, which we tailor to your specific plant or office. These have the advantages of individually paced learning, highly flexible scheduling and lower overall cost per employee because of their repeatability.
