Asbestos Evaluation and Management

The management of asbestos-containing materials is another extension of our broader health and safety services as industrial hygienists and engineers. We have completed asbestos management and abatement projects for a wide range of buildings and clients, from schools to industries, from remodeling to demolition. Whether the project involves a school, commercial property or an industrial facility, we provide the same type of comprehensive project design and execution.

Asbestos management involves two separate federal EPA regulations, the federal and state OSHA regulations and rules from each individual state for both asbestos abatement and solid waste management. Our continuing involvement in asbestos management projects means that we keep abreast of the rules at all levels. In addition to providing professional engineering and certified industrial hygiene skills for your project, we are also accredited asbestos building inspectors, management planners and project designers in Indiana and building inspectors in Michigan. We have a strong working relationship with several NIST and NVLAP accredited laboratories, and we can provide overnight reporting when necessary.

A well designed and managed asbestos project combines regulatory compliance with accurate identification of the materials involved, intelligent abatement criteria, the removal of only necessary materials, and careful documentation of the work. Thorough project documentation greatly reduces the risk of litigation in the future. The final disposal of the asbestos-containing wastes from the project may be the most crucial item, because ownership of this material remains with the building owner.
