Health Services

Noise, heat stress, work station design (ergonomics), airborne contaminants, lighting and ventilation are all elements for consideration in practicing the art of occupational health, known as Industrial Hygiene. Whether or not enforcement activities by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are a consideration, the driving force for good industrial hygiene practices is the same as that for business success – productivity and reduced operating costs.

OSHA is predated by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH, 1938), the American Standards Association (now ANSI, 1928) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA, 1939), each of which publishes concensus standards governing work practices and workplace hazards. A broader view of the best industrial hygiene practice that incorporates these concensus standards is crucial to maintaining the well-being and productivity of employees.

Grauvogel & Associates provides the only Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) consulting services in the area. We offer a comprehensive practice, with emphasis on the measurement and control of exposure to airborne contaminants and noise.
